A management information base (MIB) is a type of database used to manage the devices in a communications network. It comprises a collection of objects in a (virtual) database used to manage entities (such as routers and switches) in a network. MonitorSNMP monitors values of these objects and MIBs contain useful information about these objects. There are a large number of MIBs defined by both standards organizations like the IETF, private enterprises and other entities.

The new feature of MonitorSNMP allows browsing of the database by navigating the virtual object tree and finding appropriate objects according to the user needs. By using this tree users may instantly add monitoring of the selected object per any network device in their network. Besides standard MIBs the user may upload any MIB file. The current MIBs depository contains a large number of MIBs from well known brands like Cisco/Linksys, Microsoft, HP, Juniper Networks etc.
